HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENT: THE HOTLINK ON THE SLIDE TAKE YOU TO A WEBSITE CALLED FAIRVOTE.ORG. READ THE 4 WAYS THE SITE SAYS WE COULD INCREASE VOTER TURNOUT.
MATT, TRINA AND MANNY FOCUS ON “FAIR REPRESENTATION VOTING” Hint: The opposite of this, what the US has, is called "Winner-take-all" Here's a helpful video
DREW, DAIVEON, KAHLIA AND SHAWN FOCUS ON “NATIONAL POPULAR VOTE” Hint: The US has the Electoral College...not a national popular vote.
LISSET, RAY AND JOSH FOCUS ON “INSTANT RUNOFF VOTING” Hint: The opposite of this, what the US has, is called "Winner-take-all"
EMILY, DALTON AND ASHLEY FOCUS ON “UNIVERSAL VOTER REGISTRATION” Hint: In the US the citizen must register themselves.

ON THURSDAY YOU WILL WORK WITH YOUR GROUP TO CREATE A POSTER INFORMING AND PERSUADING THE REST OF THE CLASS TO ADOPT YOUR IDEA. MUST COME TO SCHOOL WITH THE MATERIAL AND INFO THAT WILL MAKE THIS POSSIBLE: NOTES, ANNOTATED RESEARCH (THIS MEANS DON’T JUST PRINT 89 PAGES FROM Wikipedia WITHOUT HAVING READ THEM), PICTURES, GRAPHS, etc… YOU MUST UNDERSTAND HOW WHAT WE CURRENTLY DO IN THE US IS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR IDEA, HOW YOUR IDEA WOULD INCREASE VOTER TURNOUT AND WHERE YOUR METHOD IS USED IN OTHER PLACES.

POINTS WILL BE AWARDED FOR YOUR POSTER, YOUR FINAL PROJECT, NOT YOUR RESEARCH. THIS MEANS IF YOU ARE NOT HERE ON THURSDAY YOU WILL FAIL THIS ASSIGNMENT. YOU WILL NOT BE GIVEN TIME TO RESEARCH ON THURSDAY SO HAVE THIS FINISHED WHEN YOU GET HERE. YOU MAY USE OUTSIDE SOURCES AND YOUR BOOK.
